Royal Couple Off To Flying Start
An RAF flypast sweeping above Buckingham Palace saw Prince William whisper to his new wife Kate this afternoon as millions saw him lean forward for their second, slightly more lingering kiss since being married.
In a stunning ivory gown with lace applique floral detail designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, Kate walked up the red carpeted aisle a commoner and left Westminster Abbey's altar as a royal.
She clutched a bunch of white flowers as she embarked on the short drive to Westminster Abbey, before starting her three-minute walk up the aisle to be with her groom.
Prince William and Catherine Middleton then officially kissed - briefly - on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after their wedding service.
Some 1,900 guests were invited to the wedding ceremony, with many millions watching at home while The Queen is hosting a buffet reception for 650 guests at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.
It event has saw little trouble, with the police reporting this morning that just ten arrests have been reported during this morning's Royal Wedding in London.
The arrests have been made for a variety of offences, including breach of the peace, handling stolen goods, assault, and possessing an offensive weapon. These include within and outside of the so-called event footprint.
Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton have received the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William also became Baron Carrickfergus, which means Catherine Middleton will become the Baroness Carrickfergus.
Buckingham Palace also said on Friday that the future King and Queen would also be the Earl of Strathearn and Countess of Strathearn.
William's dukedom in Cambridge is one of the titles bestowed by his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II to mark his marriage to Miss Middleton at Westminster Abbey. The titles also apply to Middleton.
Price William holds the post of Colonel in the Irish Guards.
This happened after The Queen gave her formal approval for the honour in early 2011 to see the prince take a close interest in the lives and activities of the regiment's personnel.
William, 28, succeeds Major General Sir Sebastian Roberts who previously held the post.
The second-in-line to the throne already held honorary ranks in the RAF and Royal Navy.
In 2006 he was made Commodore-in-Chief of Scotland and Commodore-in-Chief of Submarines, and two years later was appointed Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Coningsby near Lincoln.
William is the Irish Guards' first royal colonel and its Colonel-in-Chief is the Queen.
