End Demo, Says May

The Home Secretary Theresa May has said the protesters camping outside St Paul's Cathedral should leave and said St Paul's was an important site for the image of the UK. The activists, who have been at the site since 15 October, are protesting against inequality and corporate greed. Speaking on a BBC programme on Thursday night, Mrs May said: "Personally, yes, I would like to see them go."

Scottish Tory Leader

The Scottish Conservative Party will name its new leader later when it announces the result of a vote. More than 8,000 Scottish party members have spent the last few weeks voting for one of four candidates, by post. One of the front runners is current deputy leader Murdo Fraser, who wants to abolish the Scottish Conservatives in favour of a new centre-right party. MSPs Jackson Carlaw, Ruth Davidson and Margaret Mitchell are also in the running to replace Annabel Goldie.

Mother Pays Tribute To Murdered Daughter

The mother of a 28-year-old woman who was suffocated by her husband in Greater Manchester has paid tribute to her "beautiful" daughter. Pornpilai Nehls, who had a two-year-old daughter, was killed at her home in Maple Crescent, Leigh on 26 April. Her husband Rickie La-Touche, also known as Rickie Nehls, was found guilty of her murder at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday. He was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 12 years in prison. Ms Nehls's mother, Tui Srisoi, said: "Although small in stature she had a big heart and brought happiness to her friends and family. "She was also a talented artist and a loving mother to her daughter, aged only two years. She will be sorely missed."

Three Hospitalised After Mine Collapse

Two men have been taken to hospital and another treated for shock after a collapse at a mine. It took an hour to rescue the men from the Aberpergwm colliery near Glynneath, Neath Port Talbot, using an underground lift system. A trench is believed to have collapsed at around 03:06 GMT, three to four miles underground. One man suffered back injuries.

Man remanded over PC stabbing
A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of PC Jon Henry. Tennyson Obih, from Luton, appeared before Luton Magistrates charged with PC Henry's murder, as well as the attempted murder of two other men - Steven Chamberlain and David Knight - and trespass with intent to steal while in possession of a weapon.

Mother And Lover Jailed For Killing Eight-Year-Old Daughter
A mother and her lesbian lover have been jailed for killing her eight-year-old daughter in east London. Ayesha Ali was found dead in her bedroom with over 50 injuries on her body. Her mother, Polly Chowdury, was sentenced to 13 years behind bars for manslaughter. Her lover, Kiki Muddar, received 18 years for the same offence.

NHS Launches Review After Deaths Of Mother And Daughter
The NHS is to conduct a review after the body of a baby girl who went missing with her mother was found by police in Bristol. The body of Zaani Tiana Bevan Malbrouck was discovered at Avon Gorge on Thursday night, near to where her mother Charlotte Bevan's body was also discovered on Wednesday.

Tributes Paid To Mother And Daughter
The relatives of a mother and daughter killed in a suspected case of carbon monoxide poisoning on a boat have been paying tributes. 36-year-old Kelly Webster and her 10-year-old daughter Lauren Thornton died after being airlifted on Monday 1 April from their privately-owned boat on Lake Windermere.

Elderly Mother And Daughter Found Dead At Birmingham Home
An elderly mother and daughter have been found dead at a house in Birmingham. Following reports of concern from neighbours police and fire crews forced their way in to the house on Balaclava Road around 19.00 on Monday night.
