Talks Between Unions And Govt Begin - Again
Talks will begin again between unions and the government after widespread strike action yesterday.
It is understood that teaching unions will meet up with government for talks today while health service unions will meet with the government tomorrow.
More than 2 million workers are estimated to have taken part in the strikes across the UK yesterday. A strike which saw public service workers take a stand against having to work longer and pay more before receiving their pensions.
The walkout has been hailed as the biggest of its kind for generations. Hospitals, schools, ports and government offices were closed or disrupted during the strike.
The Chancellor, George Osborne, said that strikes “will not achieve anything” and urged the unions to resume negotiations.
Meanwhile the British Prime Minister, David Cameron described the walkout by public sector workers on Wednesday as a "damp squib", saying it failed to cause the level of disruption expected.
