Pictures Of Over 200 Riot Suspects Released
Police have released pictures of the 213 most wanted suspects believed to have been involved in the London riots in August as part of a campaign to catch alleged offenders in the run up to Christmas.
The Metropolitan Police Service said that with the public’s help in identifying those responsible, to date the MPS has made 3269 arrests for a variety of offences and 2046 people have been charged or summonsed.
The release of the further 213 images comes four months after the disorder as police teams continue to hunt through 200,000 hours of CCTV footage.
Commander Steve Rodhouse, Gold for Operation Withern said: “I would like to thank the public for continuing to assist us with this investigation, without their help positive identifications on several images would not have been made.
"Four months on from the disorder my team of officers remain absolutely committed to identifying, arresting and charging those involved in the criminality that took place. The investigation is a huge challenge and one that will continue for some time to come, but I want to reassure London’s communities that we are determined to bring those who committed these outrageous crimes to justice and more arrests will follow. I urge anyone with any information to come forward.”
Across the capital, 22 of London’s boroughs saw disorder and as of 5 December, a total of 3,877 crimes were reported to the police.
