Freckleton House Fire Claims Four

Initial investigations into a house fire, which claimed the lives of four siblings, indicate that the house did not have working smoke alarms.

Reece, Ella and Holly and Jordan Smith were found in two attic bedrooms of the dormer bungalow in Lytham Road, Freckleton, Lancashire on Saturday.

Post-mortem tests revealed that the siblings aged from 19 to two years –old died from the result of breathing in smoke.

Their mother was taken out of the house by fire fighters but it is understood that the 36-year-old was not seriously injured.

The mother of nine had been celebrating her birthday in the house during the time of the fire. It is understood that another of her children 16-year-old Andrew had tried to save his younger siblings but was stopped by the fire.

It is suggested that the fire broke out in a wardrobe in one of the upstairs attic bedrooms.
