Cameron And Salmond Get Set For Talks
Britain’s Prime Minister and Scotland’s First Minister will arrange a meeting to discuss Scottish independence in the next few days, it has been revealed.
PM David Cameron and Alex Salmond will discuss a referendum on Scottish independence with the meeting due to take place after Mr. Salmond publishes his consultation on his referendum plans on Wednesday.
Mr. Salmond called for talks with the Prime Minister late last week after five days of political squabbling over the proposed referendum.
The SNP government are understood to want the referendum to proceed with consent but warned that Westminister would not be allowed to bully Scotland.
Plans to hold an independence referendum in the autumn of 2014 were revealed by Scotland’s FM last week.
The FM said this date would allow the Scottish people to make a 'considered' decision on Scotland's future within the United Kingdom and that the Scottish people faced 'their most important decision for 300 years'.
The Scottish Government will launch a consultation on the referendum later this month.
Mr Cameron and Mr Salmond will discuss the UK Government's consultation on the legality of an independence referendum.

Campaigners have marked the 100 days milestone until the 18 September, when the Scottish independence referendum will take place. Currently, opinion polls are suggesting a victory for the pro-Union vote, but First Minister Alex Salmon has said there is still enough time for the "Yes" campaign to close the gap on opponents.
