Gov Will Not Block RBS Bonuses
The Government has said it will not block bonuses to other RBS executives despite chief executive Stephen Hester announcing on Monday he would waive £963,000 award. Speaking to the BBC a Downing St spokeswoman said: "We are not going to micro-manage bonuses. They are doing a good job and making good progress." She added it was absolutely essential that the RBS executive team was left in place to sort out its problems.
Appeal For Witnesses To Assault
Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of an assault in Newcastle. It happened between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Friday, January 20, when a 51-year-old man was assaulted at Kirkwood Drive in Kenton. The victim had been at The County in Gosforth and had walked from there to Kirkwood Drive when he was assaulted. He suffered a broken collar bone and needed stitches to his right ear, at this stage it's believed it may have been bitten. The incident was reported to police on Saturday, January 28. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Sheridan Leaves Jail After One Year
Outspoken former Scottish MSP Tommy Sheridan has left his open prison after serving one year of a three-year sentence for perjury. Mr Sheridan was convicted in December 2010 after a major perjury trial. The 47-year-old was found guilty of lying during his successful defamation case against the former News of the World newspaper in 2006.

Twenty Two Automatic Assault Rifles Amongst Weapons Importation Operation
The National Crime Agency seized 22 automatic assault rifles, 9 Skorpion machine pistols, 58 magazines, 2 silencers and around 1000 live rounds of ammunition in an operation targeting the importation of firearms. Eight people – seven men and a woman – were arrested as a result of the operation on Tuesday, 11 August.

13-Year-Old Arrested Over West London Sex Assaults
Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with two sex assaults in west London. It is understood that two women in their 20s reported being followed in Maida Vale by a teen who tried to engage them in conversation before inappropriately touching them.

Police Urge Suspected Assault Victim To Come Forward
Essex Police are trying to trace a cyclist who posted a video to YouTube in which it appears he is assaulted by a van driver. It is understood that the video shows the cyclist colliding with a van, followed by an argument between the van driver and the cyclist. It is alleged that the footage then shows the van driver punching the cyclist.

Former DJ Guilty Of Rape And Indecently Assaulting Young Girls
Former DJ Ray Teret, a friend of Jimmy Savile, has been found guilty of raping and indecently assaulting young girls. Teret, from Altrincham, was convicted of seven counts of rape and 11 counts of indecent assault throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
