Almost 50 New Phone Hacking Claims Made Against NOTW
News International is facing almost 50 new claims over phone hacking.
The high court has heard that nearly 50 new civil claims for damages have been made against the News of the World over alleged phone hacking.
Some of the new claims include Sir John Major’s ormer daughter-in-law Emma Noble, Conservative cabinet minister and chief whip Lord Blencathra and former Fire Brigades Union general secretary Andy Gilchrist.
At a case management conference at the high court in London Hugh Tomlinson, QC, representing victims of alleged phone hacking, told Mr Justice Vos that he had 44 new cases filed while two others had submitted their claims via another legal representative.
Up to 200 new claims are expected to be filed in the coming months, Vos told the court in a previous hearing.

No Criminal Charge Over Phone-Hacking Claims
Following an investigation into phone hacking claims at the News of the World David Cameron's Director of Communications, Andy Coulson, will not be facing criminal charges. Keir Starmer, Director of Public Prosecutions, said that no evidence existed to formally charge anyone.

Action Promised Over Milly's Phone Hacking
The boss of News International has said the "strongest possible action" will be employed if claims that the phone of murder victim Milly Dowler was hacked. It has been reported that a private investigator was hired to hack into Milly's voicemail while she was missing to give the News of the World access to associated 'storylines' for the paper.

A Manchester United and England football star has revealed on his Twitter that Detectives from Scotland Yard investigating the News of the World phone hacking claims, visited him last week. Wayne Rooney said he had been shown documents suggesting that his voicemails were hacked.

Mirror Group Settles Four Phone-Hacking Claims
The Mirror Group Newspapers has settled a number of phone-hacking claims. It is understood Cilla Black, Darren Day, Jessie Wallace and Peter Andre have all settled their claims against the newspaper group, which produces titles including the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People.
