Police Numbers At Nine Year Low
The number of police officers in England and Wales is at a nine year low, the Home Office has said.
Full-time equivalent (FTE) officers in the 43 forces stood at 134,101 at the end of March - a fall of 5,009 officers (3.6%) compared to a year earlier.
The biggest percentage drops were in Derbyshire (10%) and Warwickshire (8.2%), while Surrey saw a 4.7% rise.
The overall number of community support officers fell 9% to 14,393, the Home Office figures also showed.
But the number of volunteer special constables was up 10.4% to 20,343.
The total number of officers in Derbyshire fell by 202 and Warwickshire had 75 fewer, while Surrey had 89 more - the only force to see an increase.
The largest numerical decrease was in the West Midlands - down 323 officers (4%).

Figures Reveal Record Number Of Complaints Against Police Last Year
New figures have shown there were a record number of complaints against police in England and Wales last year. The findings from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) show a total of 37,105 complaints were recorded between 2014/15. This is a 6% increase compared to 2013/14 and a 62% increase since 2004/05.

Inflation At 5% But Expected To Drop 'Sharply'
This month's official inflation figures are still more than double the 'target rate' of 2%, although it is expected to drop "sharply", according to the Bank of England. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in the UK fell slightly to 5% during October, down from a rate of 5.2% the month before.

Third annual fall recorded in migration to UK
The number of people migrating to the UK has fallen for the third year running, according to statistics released today. New international migration estimates published today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that overall 151,000 more people migrated to the UK than leaving it in 2003.
