15 Months For Hit And Run On 'Supercop'
A man has been jailed for 15 months for a hit and run which left a "supercop" with serious injuries.
PC Diederik Coetzee, 55, was cycling to the gym in Blidworth, near Mansfield, while off-duty in November 2011 when he was hit by a car which failed to stop.
Before the incident, PC Coetzee was dubbed "supercop" by newspapers for his high arrest rate.
Mitchel Graham, 26, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court after previously pleading guilty to dangerous driving.
BNP Man Spared Jail Term
A British National Party member and former Stoke-on-Trent councillor has received a suspended jail sentence for using racist language online.
Michael Coleman, 45, of Caverswall Road, Weston Coyney, had denied two counts of racially aggravated harassment.
The charges related to racist language used in two articles on his website between 8 August 2011 and 8 March 2012.
Coleman was given eight months suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work.
DJ Hosted Show On Her Mobile From A Traffic Jam
A Breakfast DJ broadcast her entire show from her mobile phone while she was stuck in traffic a mile from the studio in Newcastle.
Presenter Anna Foster set off early on Thursday for her 06:00 start on Magic 1152, but an hour before the show's start she found herself gridlocked.
With more than 100 cars ahead, 3ft of water and high heels, she proposed hosting the show via her mobile phone.
Magic marketing director Don Munnelly called the live show "fantastic".
"There was lots of crowd reaction... word got around that there was a live radio show taking place in the jam, and people were walking up the line to join in," he told BBC News.

Chat show veteran Parkinson moves to ITV
ITV has signed up BBC chat show veteran Michael Parkinson on a two-year deal, it has emerged today. Mr Parkinson, who has hosted his eponymously-titled programme for 18 years, said that he decided to move to commercial broadcaster ITV after his Saturday night primetime slot was threatened by the return of Match of the Day.

Chris Moyles Leaves Radio 1 Breakfast Show
Radio 1 breakfast show host, Chris Moyles, has announced he will leave the show at the end of September. Presenting the show since 2004 the now 38-year-old became the stations longest serving breakfast show host in 2009. Announcing the news, he said: "We're off. I wanted to let you know. A couple more months of us, then it's someone else's turn.

UK Unemployment Drops In Three Months To February
Unemployment in the UK has fallen by 76,000 in the three months to February, down 1.3% on the same period in 2014, new figures from the Office for National Statistics(ONS) have revealed. UK unemployment now stands at 1.84 million, or 5.6%, which the ONS said is in line with forecasts.
