Almost 300 Schools Closed By Snow

Heavy snow and freezing temperatures have forced the closure of more than 260 schools in Norfolk.

Norwich Airport has been forced to shut and signal problems are causing disruption to some Greater Anglia train services.

Police said most of the roads in county remained passable "with extreme care" but they have advised motorists only to make essential journeys.

Temperatures in Norfolk are expected to remain below freezing during Wednesday.

Man City Striker Banned From Driving

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has been banned from driving for six months after failing to respond to police letters about speeding.

Tevez, 28, denies he was driving when his car was twice clocked speeding.

He said he did not recognise letters about the offences were from police as he did not recognise the word "constabulary".

The Argentinian admitted two offences of failing to give police information at Manchester Magistrates' Court.

Tevez, of Alderley Edge, Cheshire, was also ordered to pay fines and costs of £1,540.

His solicitor, Gwyn Lewis, told the court: "He does understand the word 'police', but not more complicated words.

"The letters are written from Cheshire Constabulary and the word 'police' doesn't appear on it anywhere."

Potholes Highlighted With ‘Fix Me’ Pleas

Potholes have been circled with white paint accompanied by the words "fix me" in a Dorset town.

More than 10 of the markings are believed to have been added to Shore Road and other parts of Swanage within the last week.

Dorset County Council said such actions were illegal and the potholes had already been identified for repair.

Resident Robin Boultwood said he did not know who was responsible, but said the pothole situation was "ridiculous".
