South Lambeth Residents Spend Night Away Following Helicopter Crash
Some 40 people have spent the night away from their homes following a helicopter crash in central London on Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred in South Lambeth when a helicopter crashed into a crane killing both the pilot and a pedestrian.
The crash spread debris across a wide area and onto rooftops, leaving a number of homes inaccessible.
Up to 40 residents of the area affected by the crash where asked to stay away from their homes while the extent of damage was assessed.
It is understood that crane operator, 30-year-old Nicki Biagiono from Essex, avoided the crash by sleeping in.
Twelve people were injured with five requiring hospital treatment. It is known one person suffered a broken leg but the rest were minor injuries.
An investigation has been now been launched to find out why the helicopter hit the crane at The Tower, One St George Wharf.

Four Killed In Helicopter Crash
Four people have been killed after a US Air Force helicopter crashed in Norfolk. The victims were all on board the helicopter at the time. No details of the four crew members will be released until next-of-kin have been informed, police have said. They added that an investigation into the accident is now underway.

Two people have been killed as a helicopter crashed into a crane in central London. The tower is a 185-metre high cylindrical block overlooking the Thames and the Houses of Parliament. The helicopter also smashed into two cars as it plunged to the ground.

'No Hope' For Remaining Helicopter Crash Crew
Police searching for a further eight passengers feared to be dead following a helicopter crash off the coast of Scotland have admitted they do not expect to find any survivors. The bodies of eight people killed when the Bond Super Puma plunged into the sea 14 miles off the Aberdeenshire coast on Wednesday afternoon, arrived in the port.

Dyfed-Powys Police have reported the death of a 63-year-old man in a sailing accident off the Pembrokeshire coast. According to police, the man was with two others in a dinghy that capsized at about 18:35 on Wednesday at Newport beach.
