Footballer Admits Death By Dangerous Driving

A Manchester City footballer has admitted death by careless driving.

Courtney Meppen-Walter, 18, of Middleton Road, Blackley, was charged over the deaths of Kulwant Singh and Ravel-Kaur Singh on 1 September 2012.

The brother and sister died following a collision with Mr Meppen-Walter's vehicle on Bury New Road in Manchester.

The footballer will be sentenced at the city's crown court on 28 February.

Ms Singh's two sons, aged 16 and 17, were in the back of the car, but were only injured.

Police say they are making a good recovery.

Police Investigate Clay-Pigeon Shooting

Police in Essex have been investigating an organised clay pigeon shoot following concerns raised by the public over "men with guns".

The shoot was taking place near the Discovery Centre in Great Notley, near Braintree, on Sunday afternoon.

Shooters were left surprised as tactical firearms officers arrived, accompanied by a police helicopter which was flying overhead.

Essex Police then established the shoot had been organised and departed.

Man Arrested Over Aberdeenshire Fire

A man has been arrested in connection with a fire at a house in Aberdeenshire.

The 48-year-old is due to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Thursday in connection with the fire.

The incident happened in Rosehearty just after 01:30 on Wednesday morning.

About 20 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze. No-one was injured in the incident.

Men Jailed Over Post Office Robbery

Two men have been jailed for four years over a robbery at a village post office in Gwynedd, Wales.

30-year-old Llion Hughes and 39-year-old Simon Hughes of Caernarfon admitted the raid at Talysarn early on 12 September.

The men stole Euros and Sterling worth over £6,300 and smashed a security partition with a sledgehammer.

They then fled in a car.

Llion Hughes, a heroin addict who was jailed in 2011 for robbery, was arrested while hitchhiking at Penygroes.

He had flagged down a car containing two detectives.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London

The gunman who shot dead 32 people at a US college has been described as a loner, whose college work was "disturbing". Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old from South Korea, who had been resident in the US since 1992, was an English student at Virginia Tech who lived on campus.

Police Seek Two Men In Connection With Nightclub Murder
Detectives investigating a fatal shooting of Hassan Mohammed Omer Isman at a nightclub in central London on Boxing Day are appealing to trace two men they wish to speak to. Officers are releasing pictures of Danny Walker, 32 and Gavin Allen, 30 and are appealing to the public for any information on their whereabouts.

Manchester Police Investigate Beer Garden Shooting
An investigation has been launched into a shooting incident at a Manchester beer garden when a man walked in and opened fire on two other men. According to police a 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old man where in the beer garden of the Railway Hotel, Berry Brow, Clayton Bridge, when a gunman walked in and opened fire.
