British Backpacker Lost In Australian Outback Found
An 18-year-old British backpacker, missing in the Australian outback for three days, has been found alive having survived by drinking contact lens solution.
Samuel Woodhead, disappeared on Tuesday after he set out for a jog from a cattle station in Queensland. He was said to be a little sunburned following his ordeal, but was hydrated and otherwise well.
Snowfall Causes Retail Sales Fall
Heavy snowfall has caused an unexpected 0.6% fall in UK retail sales in January, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
Volumes also fell 0.6% from a year ago, the first annual fall in 17 months.
The ONS highlighted weak sales in the food sector, which dropped 2.6% year-on-year to the lowest level since April 2004. It also said small stores had fared worse than large stores.
Dappy Avoids Jail
N-Dubz rapper Dappy have avoided jail receiving a 6 month suspended sentence over a charge for assault and affray in a service station car park.
The six-month sentence was suspended for 18 months at Guildford crown court for assault and affray and he was ordered to do 150 hours of community service.
He was also ordered to pay £4,500 compensation and £2,000 in costs.
The 25-year-old had faced a maximum sentence of three years in jail after being convicted in connection with a brawl at a petrol station in Guildford.

Inflation At 5% But Expected To Drop 'Sharply'
This month's official inflation figures are still more than double the 'target rate' of 2%, although it is expected to drop "sharply", according to the Bank of England. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in the UK fell slightly to 5% during October, down from a rate of 5.2% the month before.

Third annual fall recorded in migration to UK
The number of people migrating to the UK has fallen for the third year running, according to statistics released today. New international migration estimates published today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that overall 151,000 more people migrated to the UK than leaving it in 2003.

Stuart Hall In Court Charged With Rape
Veteran broadcaster Stuart Hall, 83, has appeared in court charged with 15 offences of rape relating to two girls. He also faces charges of indecent assault. Hall is currently serving a 30-month jail term for sexually abusing 13 victims over a period of 20 years. He appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court to face the charges.
