Arrests Over Sexual Assault At Islamic Girls School
Three men have been arrested following reports of alleged sexual assault and false imprisonment at an Islamic girls school in Lancashire.
The arrests came as Lancashire Police were looking into concerns over a group of teenage girls at the Jamea al-Kauthar school on Ashton Road in Lancaster.
A man from Bolton aged 40 and another man from Blackburn aged 30 have been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and false imprisonment.
A further 53-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment.
All are currently in custody.
A Lancashire police spokesperson said: "We are still at the very early stages of the investigation and our aim at the moment is to respond to the concerns raised proportionately, in a measured way and with sensitivity.
"Searches at the school are being conducted by specialist female officers with sensitivity and are being carried out as quickly as possible to ensure minimum impact.
"We are working closely with the school and the local authorities to establish the circumstances around exactly what has taken place and we have specialist officers supporting the victims."

£1bn is being unlocked to fund the Department of Education's free school meals commitment. The news, announced by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, follows an announcement in September that every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools will receive a free school lunch.

Schoolboy’s kidnappers jailed
A gang of kidnappers who abducted a schoolboy and demanded a £40,000 ransom have been jailed. The four kidnappers – Ravideen Babu, Singh Dhanoa, Amarjit Singh Dhariwar and Avisha Choudhry, all from Southall, west London – abducted the 11-year-old as he returned from school; Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court was told.
