22-Year-Old Charged With Teen's Bus Murder

22-year-old Philip Simelane has appeared before Birmingham Crown Court charged with the murder of Christina Edkins, who was killed in a knife attack on a bus during the morning rush hour last week.

Christina Edkins was stabbed to death on board the bus on Hagley Road while on her way to Leasowes High School in Halesowen on 7 March.

Simelane, from Walsall, was remanded in custody to a secure mental health unit, and is due back at the court on 31 May.

Levi Bellfield has been found guilty of the murders of two women in the trial dubbed the 'Bus Stalker' killings. Bellfield was found guilty of the murders of Amelie Delagrange, 22, in August 2004 and Marsha McDonnell, 19, in February 2003, following nearly six days of deliberation by the jury at the Old Bailey.

22-Year-Old Man To Be Charged With Christina Edkins Murder
A man is to be charged with the murder of 16-year-old Christina Edkins, who was stabbed to death on a bus in Birmingham last week. Christina was on her way to school in Halesowen during the morning rush hour on Thursday when she was attacked. A postmortem examination showed she died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Man found guilty of Pc shooting
A man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a trainee police officer. Trevon Thomas, 24, of Melford Road, Bilborough, shot Pc Rachael Bown, also 24, three times as she investigated a burglary in the Lenton area of Nottingham on February 14.
