Police Want To Trace Former Pupils Of WeathermanTalbot

Police investigation claims of sexual abuse by TV weatherman Fred Talbot have appealed for help to trace any former pupils.

The 63-year-old former biology teacher, who was known as the weatherman during Richard & Judy’s ITV show, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of sex offences in relation to four students who attended Altrincham grammar school for boys in Greater Manchester, where Talbot taught biology from the early 70s to early 80s.

Detective chief inspector Koran Sellars said on Friday: "Following the publicity surrounding this man's arrest, information has been received from the public that he taught at various schools in the Tyne and Wear area and which included Saltwell and Slatyford high school.

"Anyone who attended these or any other schools between 1968 and the early 1970s and who has any information which they believe may assist police are asked to call Greater Manchester police. All information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence."

Apprentice Winner Loses Cases Against Sugar

Former Apprentice winner, Stella English, has lost her claim of constructive dismissal against the millionaire businessman Lord Sugar.

English, 34, sued the Labour peer after resigning from the £100,000-a-year job that was her prize for winning series six of the BBC1 show in 2010, complaining that she was treated like an "overpaid lackey".

In a written judgment on Friday, the tribunal said: "There was no dismissal of the claimant – the claimant resigned. Therefore the complaint of unfair constructive dismissal contrary to section 95 Employment Rights Act 1996 fails and is dismissed."

Waitrose Ask Suppliers To Avoid Bee Harming Pesticides

Supermarket chain Waitrose has asked its fruit, vegetable and flower suppliers to avoid using pesticides linked with bee declines.

Farmers supplying the supermarket are to stop using three neonicotinoid pesticides on products destined for its stores by the end of 2014 as part of a "seven-point plan" by the company to help pollinating insects.

The move makes Waitrose the latest retailer to take action on pesticides, after the Co-operative suspended its use on its farms several years ago, and more recently leading garden centres removed products that contain the chemicals.
