Thatcher Laid At Palace Of Westminster

The body of Baroness Thatcher has arrived at the Palace of Westminster, ahead of Wednesday's funeral.

A service will be held there later for around 100 MPs, peers and parliamentary and Downing Street staff.

The former prime minister's coffin, carried in an escorted hearse, was draped in the Union flag.

MPs are expected to vote later on whether to cancel Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday to enable them to attend the funeral.

Former Times Editor Named As BBC Director

James Harding, former editor of the Times, has been announced as the new director of the BBC.

Having been editor of The Times since 2007, Mr Harding resigned from the paper in December, saying it had been made clear that publishers News International wanted a new editor.

"James has a very impressive track record as a journalist, editor and leader," director general Lord Hall said in a statement.

The ex-Times journalist is also the paper's former business editor and was also Washington bureau chief of the Financial Times.

Girls Aloud Singer Banned From Driving

Former Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding has been banned from driving for six months.

She was pulled over in her Range Rover on 4 April after swerving into the path of a cycling policeman on Charing Cross Road in central London.

Ms Harding, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge and was also made to pay a £605 fine.

It was also revealed that she had already accumulated nine points on her driving licence for speeding.
