RAC Propose Change To Drivers License
The RAC Foundation has called for a new system of graduated licences for learner drivers in the UK, claiming it would reduce the number of road deaths.
The new system would consist of three stages spread across four years. The stage would be:
• Stage one
A minimum 1 years experience driving, before, taking the test. Drivers would be required to have experienced a range of driving conditions such as night and winter driving.
• Stage two
Restriction would continue to be applied for a year after taking the test, such as a limit on the number of passengers.
• Stage three
A final two year probation period, during which if a driver gets up to six penalty point that they would have to re-sit the test.
The RAC Foundation study suggests that hundred of live could be saved every year if the system was revised.
