Royal Mail To Employ 18,000 Temp Staff
Some 21,000 seasonal staff are to be hired by Royal Mail to help them cope with the Christmas post rush.
In England, around 18,000 additional staff will be recruited, with 2,000 in Scotland, 700 in Wales and 400 in Northern Ireland.
Christmas is the busiest time of year for the company and the additional staff will be brought in to support the 120,000-plus people employed full time by Royal Mail.

Legal Action Threat Over Mail Strike
Royal Mail is facing legal action over the recruitment of 30,000 agency staff during strikes. The Communication Workers Union are to go to the High Court on Friday to seek an injunction against Royal Mail using the temporary staff while the industrial dispute over modernisation plans continues.

Met Police Seize Scam Mail Aimed At UK Victims
In the first operation of its kind, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Economic and Specialist Crime Unit (Operation Sterling) took possession of a bulk delivery of scam mail intended for vulnerable victims across the UK and searched and closed five virtual offices used by the scammers.

There's fresh hope today of a resolution to a highly damaging industrial dispute that is threatening to cripple the UK's mail system as Christmas approaches. Trade union chiefs and Royal Mail bosses are meeting again today in an attempt to avert a second wave of postal strikes.

Royal Mail urged to redouble efforts to stop mass mail scams
Royal Mail has been told to "tighten" its procedures in an effort to try to stop fraudsters using the postal system to get to consumers. The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) made the calls after statistics revealed that 67% of complaints about scams aimed at consumers relate to items delivered through the post.

Royal Mail To Axe 1,300 Jobs
Royal Mail has confirmed it is planning to cut 1,300 jobs as part of a new scheme to cut costs, around £50m, mainly among its head office managerial staff. The firm said it would start consultations on the cuts with Unite and CWU on Tuesday.
