Briton Killed By Wild Elephant In India
A British man has been killed while on safari in southern India.
It is understood that the man, from Hampshire, was trying to photograph a wild elephant when the animal charged him, hitting him in the head with its trunk.
According to reports the man had illegally entered a enclosed section of the jungle tour in the state of Tamil Nadu. The guides with the man at the time managed to escape the elephant, but according to the BBC will likely be arrested.
The victim has been named as Colin Manvell by the Foreign Office, who are providing consular assistance to the family.

Two British tourists have died in Zimbabwe after being charged by an elephant. It is understood that the bull elephant attacked the tourists - named as Veronica Parker and her ten-year-old daughter Charlotte - as they participated in a guided tour in Hwange National Park.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Garston, Liverpool on Tuesday night. Police were called to reports of a road accident between a car and a scrambler bike on Banks Road in Garston at about 20:45 last night. However, when police arrived at the scene they found an 18-year-old man with serious gunshot wounds.

Police Dig Up Pub Patio In Search For Missing Landlady
Police investigating the disappearance of a landlady in Cambridgeshire in 1997 are digging up the patio of her former pub. Deborah Steel, 37, was landlady of the Royal Standard in Ely, Cambridgeshire, when she disappeared on 28 December 1997. Police have said that Ms Steel's disappearance is now being treated as a murder investigation.
