Devon Authorities Investigate Religious Community Over Caning Allegations
Devon County Council and Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating claims of children being beaten with canes at a small religious community in the town.
The allegations against the Twelve Tribes Community in Dunkeswill, Honiton, first appeared in the Independent newspaper.
The NSPCC subsequently raised concerns over the allegation leading to an investigation by authorities.
According to reports, forty children were removed from two Twelve Tribes communities in Klosterzimmern and Wornitz, in Germany.

Man and two children killed in fire
A man and two children have been killed in a house fire in Devon. The blaze at the property in Gowmans Terrace in North Tawnton was reported after midnight and was eventually extinguished around 1:40am. The victims have been named in reports as Iain Varma, 34, and his children Zak, eight, and four-year-old Chloe.
