Wanted Paedophile Extradited From Spain
One of Britain's most wanted criminals, a 78-year-old convicted paedophile, has been extradited from Spain to the UK.
Michael McCartney, from Letchworth, Hertfordshire, fled to Spain after being convicted of 11 sexual offences in March. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
Authorities in Spain arrested McCartney in Alicante on November 14, after he was included on a list released by the National Crime Agency of criminals it wanted to trace.

A man whose partner is accused of murdering their two children in Spain has been found guilty of child sex abuse. Martin Smith, 45, originally from North Shields but residing in Carlisle, was found guilty of 11 counts of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault at Manchester Crown Court today.

Sheffield United Urged To Reconsider Evans Decision
Sheffield United have been urged to reconsider its decision to allow convicted rapist Ched Evans to train with the club. Sheffield Central MP Paul Bloomfield said if the club proceeded it would send "a disturbing message to young people and victims of sexual violence".

CPS Receives File On Genette Tate Case
A file on the murder of Devon teenager Genette Tate in 1978 has been handed to the Crown Prosecution Service, Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed. Devon and Cornwall Police said that the file had been submitted following an interview with a man in 2005.

ONS Figures Reveal Rise In Net Migration
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that net migration to the UK has risen to 212,000 as of September 2013. The ONS report showed a net flow increase of 154,000 in the year to September. Net flow is measured by subtracting the number of people leaving the UK from the number of people arriving.

Search For Missing Sailor Abandoned
The search for a missing sailor, lost off the coast of Cornwall when a tug boat sank, has been called off. Falmouth Coastguard confirmed the French Coastguard, which was co-ordinating the search, had stopped looking for the Aquarius crew member.
