Appeal For Witnesses Following Shooting

West Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses following a firearms incident in Bradford.

Officers have said they would like to speak to a man who was seen in the area around the time of the incident, which occurred at an address in Little Horton Lane around 7.45pm on 4 January.

He is described as Asian and of stocky build, and was wearing all black clothing. He is believed to be around 6ft tall and aged between 20 and 30. He was also believed to be wearing a balaclava.

A 42-year-old man received serious injuries in the attack and remains in a stable condition, police have said.

In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor, said: "We are particularly keen to speak to this man, as we believe he might have vital information for our enquiries.

"This is being treated as a targeted incident and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this or seen any suspicious activity at the time to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."

Man Charged Following New Year's Eve Assault

A man has been charged with assault following an incident on Church Road, Haydock, on New Year's Eve.

Karl Hazelden, 28, from Balharry Avenue in Haydock, was charged with Section 20 assault. He appeared at St Helen's Magistrates Court at the weekend on the charge.

Merseyside Police said officers were called to Church Road shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve following reports that a man was lying unconscious near to the junction with Arrowsmith Road, opposite The Jade Garden chinese takeaway.

An ambulance was called and paramedics took a 40-year-old local man to Walton Neurological Hospital in Liverpool with a serious head injury.

Police Investigating Serious Assault

Lincolnshire Police have said they are currently investigating a serious assault that occurred in the Ashcroft Road area of Gainsborough at around 1.45am on Sunday (5 January).

It is understood the victim received non-life threatening stab injuries in the assault and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

A 36-year-old local man and a 24-year-old local man were arrested in connection with the incident.

They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until April 11.

The force have asked any witnesses to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 33 of January 5, 2014.

Appeal Launched After Women Start Fighting

Police in Hampshire are investigating reports of an assault incident involving two women.

The incident is thought to have occurred between 12.30pm and 1.30pm in the Shooters Way area of Basingstoke, close to South View infant and junior schools on 5 January.

Officers at Hampshire Constabulary have said they would like to speak to several members of the public who intervened when the two women were arguing and physically fighting. It is understood two teenage girls helped one of the women and a man also intervened.

PC Lisa Graham said: "Was this you? Did you intervene or witness this incident?

"I would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident which could assist my investigation."

A 21-year-old woman from Andover has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.

A man has been shot by police after being called to attend an incident in Hersden where a woman was stabbed. Police initially attended the scene at around 11.20pm on Sunday followed by firearms officers and police negotiators. The man and woman, who are members of the same family, are both in a critical condition in hospital.

Armed police in Cornwall have shot dead a man after they were called to a 'domestic incident' an isolated address in the Duchy. Following what police described as "threats of violence," armed officers were sent to Lewannick near Launceston at about 9pm on Monday May 3.

A teenager is being questioned in connection with the stabbing of a 16-year-old Tyneside boy. Police are investigating the murder of Mark Smith, 16, from St John's Walk, Newcastle, who was stabbed and later died in hospital.

Twenty-Five Injured In M4 Coach Crash
Around 25 people were injured when a coach crashed on the M4 near Newbury on Wednesday evening. The incident happened around 7pm, when the private hire coach came off the westbound carriageway, between junctions 14 and 15, and plunged around 30ft down an embankment.
