Soldier Held Over Drug Smuggling
It has been reported that a serving British soldier has been charged with drug smuggling.
According to the Telegraph, the soldier, named as Private Daryl Archer, is said to be based at the Colchester barracks in Essex.
He was arrested on Wednesday at Heathrow's Terminal One having arrived back from Brazil. He had tried to smuggle 11lb (5kg) of cocaine through the airport. He is not thought to have been on duty at the time.
The 26-year-old is due to appear at Isleworth Court later this month on one charge of attempting to import the class A drug into Britain.
He has been remanded in custody.

Hefty sentences totalling 31.5 years were handed down to one man and two women convicted of drug smuggling charges today at Manchester Crown Court. Rodcliffe Burns Smith, 35, of Rowley Regis was jailed for nine years for cocaine smuggling and two years for cannabis smuggling.

A Mexican woman has been charged with drug smuggling after customs officers at Heathrow allegedly found 15 kilos of cocaine strapped to the legs of two children. Elisa Vazquez Sanchez, 40, was arrested following the discovery of the drugs during a search at Terminal 4 at the airport on Tuesday.
