Review Condemns Police Federation
Top to bottom changes are needed in the Police Federation of England and Wales following a "worrying loss of confidence and competence", an independent review has found.
A review was ordered in the wake of the "pledgate" affair and has now produced a report saying that the federation has suffered a "serious loss of influence".
Former Home Office permanent secretary Sir David Normington lead the review into the police federation, which represents around 127,000 officers ranked chief inspector and below.

Regardless of previous qualifications and experience, police recruits currently receive 25 weeks of training, earning £23,000 during their first two years.
