Motorway Pub Becomes First To Serve Alcohol
JD Wetherspoon has begun serving alcohol at a motorway services in Buckinghamshire.
The Hope and Champion restaurant and bar at junction two on the M40 at Beaconsfield, will open from 04:00 to 01:00 and begin serving alcohol from 09:00.
It is understood that prior to lodging its application to serve alcohol, developer Wetherspoons met with South Buckinghamshire District Council and Thames Valley Police, outlining their plans.
Road safety campaigners have criticised the move, arguing that offering alcohol along a motorway was putting temptation in front of drivers.

Man Sought Over Motorway Services Assault On 10-Year-Old Boy
Thames Valley Police have appealed for information on a man they wish to speak in connection with a sexual assault at a motorway services. Police said that a 10-year-old boy was in the toilets of Cherwell Services on the M40 when a man "touched him over his clothing". The incident happened at about 15:00 on Sunday, 23 August.
