Victorian Bear Pit Given Listed Status
The rediscovered remains of an open Victorian bear pit in the old Rosherville Gardens in Northfleet, Kent, have been given Grade II-listed status.
Uncovered in an archaeological survey, the bear put dates to 1837 and was used to house bears, which where a visitor attraction at the gardens.
English Heritage said it was a "very rare surviving example and the only known brick-built example nationally".
Crimewatch To Air EDL March Appeal
BBC One's Crimewatch programme is to broadcast an appeal for help tracing people involved in an English Defence league protest in Birmingham.
The appeal relates to a protest held in Centenary Square on 20 July.
A police officer was injured when bottles and other debris were thrown.
Police are hoping to identify more than 50 people in connection with the incident.
British Man Accused Of Obsceneties Trafficking To Be Deported From Uganda
A 65-year-old British man charged in Uganda for possessing a gay sex video is to be deported.
Bernard Randall, from Faversham, Kent, denies the charge of trafficking obscene publications.
According to a report by the AFP agency, a court ruled that Mr Randall would be deported within 12 hours.
In Uganda, if found guilty Mr Randall would have faced two years in jail.
He was charged along with a housemate, Ugandan national 30-year-old Albert Cheptoyek.

Polar Bear Death Inquest Verdict Delayed Until Next Week
The verdict in an inquest into the death of 17-year-old boy mauled by a polar bear is to be delayed by a week. Horatio Chapple, from Salisbury, died after being attacked by the bear while on an adventure holiday with the British Schools Exploring Society (BSES) in August 2011. Four others in the group were seriously injured in the attack.

Teen Briton Killed By Polar Bear In Norway
A 17-year-old British tourist has been fatally injured after an attack by a polar bear on the remote Norwegian island of Svalbard. The UK national and four others were set upon while in the Arctic as part of a trip with the British Schools Exploring Society. A party of 80 mainly 16 to 23-year-olds were on the trip.

Landslide In Scotland To Cause Major Disruption
A landslide on a major route through southern Scotland is being assessed by transport bosses. The A7 was closed south of Langholm on Thursday, as heavy rain caused the road to partially cave in causing the landslip. Dumfries and Galloway Police say a 60-mile diversion is now in place and that the road may not open for some weeks.
