Torbay Council Back £22m Budget Cut
Torbay's mobile library service is to be scrapped as part of a council approved package of cuts.
The council has backed some £22 million in cuts, which they say they have "no choice" but to implement.
It is understood that cuts will be made to groups that support elderly people to remain in their own homes, to sheltered housing for vulnerable people and to a service for people with learning difficulties, Torbay Pluss.
Mayor Gordon Oliver has said that the council has been forced to make the cuts following government funding cuts, saying that the coalition had made the situation "difficulti", but adding that he understood the reason why as the "money isn't in our economy".
