Revamp To GCSE And A-Levels Announced
Education Secretary Michael Gove has unveiled plans to revamp GCSE and A-levels in Britain.
The "more rigorous content" will be taught from September 2016 and 2015, respectively.
The changes are part of a major reform of the exams' system in the UK.
It is understood the new GCSE's will be applicable to subjects including
It is understood the new changes will apply to the following GCSE's to be taught from 2016, including sciences, history, geography and modern languages. Details have already been outlined for the first three of the new type of GCSE, which will be English language, English literature and maths. These will be taught from September 2015. In addition, Minister Gove has said other more "rigorous and demanding" subjects will include arts subjects, such as music, drama, art and dance. These will be taught from September 2016, alongside changes to A-levels in RE and design and technology.

Pupils Score Record GCSE Results
Teenagers have again scored record GCSE results, with around seven in 10 pupils receiving at least a C grade. The pass rate rose for the 23rd year in a row, and results for schoolchildren in England, Wales and Northern Ireland showed that girls continued to out-perform the boys.

Concerns over GCSE are becoming easier has lead Ofqual, the Office of Qualifications and Examination Regulation, to order examinations in four key subjects are tightened. English literature, maths, history and geography are the four subjects to face tougher exams to ensure pupils study the whole of the curriculum.

Conservatives pledge return to 'traditional' teaching methods
Michael Howard has pledged a return to traditional teaching methods, using phonics to teach children how to read and write.
