UK Drug Firm Rejects £65bn Takeover Offer
A "final" takeover offer from US drug giant Pfizer for UK company AstraZeneca has been rejected.
The offer valued at the UK drug company at around £69 billion pounds, but AstraZeneca has said that the offer of £55 per share "undervalues the company and its attractive prospects".
It is understood that AstraZeneca had concerns over the takeovers impact on drug research and job security.
It is not known if following the rejection of what Pfizer called its "final" offer, they US firm will launch a hostile takeover. A move that AstraZeneca has said it does not want.

Pinewood Shepperton share offer promises £46m
The share launch by UK film studio complex Pinewood Shepperton on the London Stock Exchange today was expected to net £46.2 million, but the oversubscribed share offer promises to net the company much more. The studios, home to Harry Potter and James Bond film productions, announced today that the shares had been launched at 180 pence each.

Cancer Drug Offer For 'At Risk' Women
Women who are at most risk of developing breast cancer are to be offered a preventative drug on the NHS, the NICE has said. Studies have found that taking tamoxifen or raloxifene can reduce the chances of developing cancer by half. Now, new guidelines recommend the treatment can be given to healthy women who are "at risk" of developing cancer.

Blair unveils 'tough' anti-drugs package
The Prime Minister has today unveiled a series of measures designed to deal with drug dealers and to offer more support to users. As part of the plans, suspects will be tested for drugs and would be offered treatment if they test positive. If the offer is declined, suspects can expect "harsher treatment" from the criminal justice system.

Further Six Arrested In No Deal Operation In Birmingham
A further six people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting suspected drug dealers in Birmingham. Police carried out a series of dawn raids on Thursday 24 September, arresting a 17-year-old man, two 19-year-olds and three men aged 21, 26 and 47.

Sellers of the Big Issue were among 54 people arrested by Merseyside Police today in a crackdown on drug dealing in Liverpool city centre. Operation Manton targeted suspected drug dealers and drug users and 50 men and four women were arrested following a 15-month long investigation by Merseyside Police into drug dealing on the city's streets.
