Energy Firm To Submit Fracking Application
Lancashire County Council is to receive an application for fracking work at the Fylde coast, energy company Cuadrilla has announced.
The company say that the application, which will be submitted by the end of the month, will seek permission to drill, hydraulically fracture and test gas flow at up to four exploration wells at Preston New Road, Little Plumpton.
The company say that a detailed environmental impact statement has also been prepared as part of its application.
Previous sites set up by the energy company have seen protest camps over fears surrounding fracking.

EDF To Takeover British Energy
The Government welcomed EDF's proposed £12.5 billion takeover offer for British Energy Group and the British Energy Board's recommendation of the offer to its shareholders. The Government has committed to accept the cash offer of 774p per share for its 36% stake held by the Nuclear Liabilities Fund (NLF), subject to certain conditions.

Protesters Maintain Overnight Presence In Sussex
An all night protest has been held in a Sussex village over exploratory oil drilling, after permission was granted for a 3,000ft well and 2,500ft horizontal bore. Around 25 protesters formed a chain at the site near Balcombe overnight, according to the BBC.

E.On Makes £1.7m Compensation Deal
Energy company E.On has agreed to pay £1.7m in compensation, including interest, to overcharged customers. E.On failed to allow customers 94,000 a 30-day window to switch supplier after a price rise. A total of £1.4m is being paid directly to overcharged exit fee customers. The average rebate is valued at £14.83 each.
