Appeal For Witnesses Following Serious Road Collision
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them after a serious road collision in Wednesbury, Birmingham, this morning.
Officers were called to High Bullen at 10.40am today (30 May) after a lorry collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital by ambulance in a critical condition.
The road into Wednesbury is currently closed at the junction with Walsall Street while officers from the force's Collision Investgation Unit investigate what happened. The carriageway out of Wednesbury remains open.
Man Seriously Assaulted In Sefton
Merseyside Police is investigating after a man was seriously assaulted in the Sefton area on Thursday.
The 45-year-old from Warrington was in a silver Ford Transit van in Jubilee Road in Crosby when his vehicle was driven at by several men in a white BMW.
The men then got out of their vehicle and assaulted him, resulting in the victim receiving several deep lacerations to his head, upper body and legs.
Detectives believe the injuries are consistent with a large knife and that the attack was targeted.
Emergency services were called and the victim was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
Detectives are investigating the motive for the assault and who the people are who are responsible.
Extensive enquiries are being carried out in the area and both a section of Jubilee Road and the pub have been cordoned off for forensic examination.
Two vehicles have also been recovered by officers and will be examined. A Transit van was found abandoned in Coronation Road and a white BMW was found in nearby Netherton.
Minister Opens New Roundabout In Goole
Transport Minister Robert Goodwill visited Goole today to open a new £1.5 million roundabout which will cut down on congestion and help boost the local economy.
The roundabout on the A614 Rawcliffe Road will replace the old staggered junction, opening up access into a proposed new development at Court House Farm to the north of the A614.
The scheme was funded thanks to £1 million from the Department for Transport’s Local Pinch Point Fund and contributions from the private sector and East Riding Council.
Transport Minister Robert Goodwill said: "This new roundabout is fantastic news for Goole. It will cut congestion and make journey times more reliable, which is great for businesses using this route and residents living in the area. It is schemes like this that can really help the local economy. Thanks to £1 million of funding from DFT, government has made the area more attractive for development, with the potential to create 1,200 new jobs and as well as safeguarding over 360 existing jobs."

Reward Offered In 2010 Murder Of 16-Year-Old
A reward of £20,000 has been offered for information leading to a conviction for the 2010 murder of 16-year-old Samuel Adelagun in Plaistow. Police have renewed their appeal on the murder of the teenager and the attempted murder of his 15-year-old friend on Saturday, 23 October 2010.

Police and ambulance were called just after 22:00 on Saturday to reports of an accident on Colney Hatch Lane. A female was suffering from serious head injuries as a result of a collision with a car.
