Reward Offered In 2010 Murder Of 16-Year-Old
A reward of £20,000 has been offered for information leading to a conviction for the 2010 murder of 16-year-old Samuel Adelagun in Plaistow.
Police have renewed their appeal on the murder of the teenager and the attempted murder of his 15-year-old friend on Saturday, 23 October 2010.
The two teenagers were attacked in the early hours of 23 October, 2010, as they walked along Chesterton Road in Plaistow.
Police were called at 03:20 following reports that two teenagers had been shot.
The shooting happened on a patch of parkland at the junction of Chesterton Road and Upper Road.
Samuel, who lived in Stratford, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest.
A 15-year-old boy found suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen was taken to hospital and went on to make a full recovery.
It is believed that four friends aged 15 and 16 years-old, were walking along Upper Road, E13, when two gunmen appeared behind them and fired about four shots. Samuel and his friend were both hit. The youths managed to disperse and re-group outside a house in Chesterton Road where they sought help.
The suspects were said to be dressed in black with balaclavas.
Four men aged 20, 22, 22 and 23 were arrested on 11 November 2010 but later released with no further action.
Officers now plan to return to Upper Road, E13 between 16:00 and 18:00 today, Friday, 23 October 2015 to appeal for further information.
Detective Inspector Peter Hine, of the Met's SCO8 Trident Legacy Team, said: "Despite the fact that we are five years on we remain committed to investigating Samuel's murder and we continue to encourage members of the public to come forward and provide information that will lead to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person or people responsible.
"Samuel had everything to live for and his devastated family continues to seek answers. Five years on we hope the appeal and the significant £20,000 reward will encourage someone to finally speak to police and end the family's suffering."
Anyone with information should contact the incident room at 0208-785-8267 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
