Man, 77, Assaulted With Crowbar
Police have said they are looking for four men who tied up an elderly man in his home and assaulted him with a crowbar.
At around 10.30pm on Sunday (29 June), four men broke in to the 77-year-old's home on Bramhall Lane South, Stockport. They tied his hands and feet with duct tape, then placed a pillow over his face before they assaulted him. He has been left with a number of injuries.
It is understood the gang threatened to kill the victim unless he gave them money and jewellery. They ransacked the house, taking just £40 from the property.
The first man is said to be tall and was wearing a white balaclava or face mask and green jacket. The second offender was a shorter, mixed-race man with a thin moustache, who was also wearing a balaclava.
Detective Constable Joseph Trippett from Greater Manchester Police said: "This was an utterly terrifying ordeal for the victim, who was left tied up and wounded on his bed as the four men trashed his house looking for valuables.
"They subjected him to a vicious assault that left him requiring hospital treatment and has meant he is scared to be alone in his own home.
"The injuries were so appalling that the victim's son required medical attention for shock."
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
