Man U Ban Tablets And Laptops From Stadium
Tablets and laptops are to be banned from the stands at Old Trafford.
Manchester United has announced that fans will no longer be allowed to bring tablets and laptops into its stadium.
It says that they are "reacting to security intelligence" and that the ban is in line with new security measures at airports – but added that unlike at airports the club would not have the resources to check electronic devices and instead have introduced the ban.
A statement posted on the club's website states:
"Why is Old Trafford different from other stadiums?
"The regulations at each stadium are a matter for the relevant stadium management authorities, however, the scale of Old Trafford and profile of Manchester United mean that the risk at this venue is unique.
"Why can’t I demonstrate that my device is genuine by powering it up on request?
"The configuration of the stadium and arrival profile of spectators means that it is impractical to deal with individual requests of this nature.
Thank you for your co-operation on this matter. We look forward to welcoming you to Old Trafford."
