Portsmouth Shipbuilding Ends With Completion Of Final Project
The completion of work on a giant section of the navy's new aircraft carrier marks the end of shipbuilding in Portsmouth.
BAE Systems announced in November last year that their shipbuilding yard would close following the completion of their final project.
Closure of the yard sees the loss of over 1000 jobs.
Work has not been completed on the yard's final project, which was building a piece of the navy's new aircraft carrier.
Man Arrested After Allegedly Setting Fire To Gas Main
Police in Essex have arrested a man in connection with a gas main being set on fire.
It is understood that a gas main, which supplies some 15 flats and a Tesco store, was deliberately set on fire in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man, of no fixed abode, and is believed that he may also be connected to a similar attack carried out a short time before.
Cats' Heads Found Dumped In Bin Bag
Manchester City Council workers have found severed cats' heads dumped in a bin bag, following a fly-tipping report.
The council say that workers investigated the report on Walmer Street East, Rusholme, on Friday and found the remains of at least four cats in amongst other rubbish.
The cat remains and severed heads had been left in a black bin bag.
An investigation is underway to try and trace where the bag came from and who dumped it.

Plans Announced To Make Young People Work For Benefits
The Prime Minister has announced a proposal for 18 to 21-year-olds claiming benefits to do daily work experience. The proposed reform, known as Community Work Programme, would see young people not in work, education or training, required to complete daily work experience, alongside continuing to look for work in order to qualify for benefits.

Thief returns £100,000 in missing cash to bank
London police are trying to track down a thief who stole £115,000 from a cash machine, only to return most of the cash within a week. The cash was stolen from a cash machine located in a bank at Barkingside High Street in east London between May 21 and May 22 this year.
