Labour To Boycott 'English Votes' Discussions
Labour has said that it will boycott any body established to examine the role of English MPs, saying that it would not take part in discussions on "English votes for English laws".
The party made its stance clear as the Commons debates devolution, discussing more power for Scotland following the rejection of the independence referendum.
Labour has said that it is opposed to the barring of Scottish MPs from voting on some legislation at Westminster.
The party says that is favours more devolution within England and is calling for more consideration of this and further wide-ranging constitutional matters, such as reform of the House of Lords should be delayed until after the 2015 election.

The government has published its controversial Education Bill, although it includes several concessions, following a threatened rebellion by many Labour backbenchers. The Education and Inspections Bill includes plans to allow English schools to establish independent trusts, allowing them to have control over their own admissions and budgets.

Welsh Labour Party To Outline Plans For New Assembly
Welsh Labour leader Carwyn Jones is to outline the likely shape of a new assembly government. Labour has had informal talks with other parties since winning half of the 60 seats in last week's election and say the new assembly will be stable and in place soon.

Simon Andrews Dies After North West 200 Crash
English biker Simon Andrews died on Monday after suffering fatal injuries in an accident in the fourth lap of the North West 200 in Portrush on Saturday. The 31-year-old, from Evesham, Worcesterchire, was treated at the accident scene and airlifted to the Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital where he was placed in intensive care.

Labour Lay Out Skills Expectations For JSA Claimants
Labour have called for all new claimants to meet a basic skills standard in order to qualify for benefits. Under the plans people making a new claim for Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) would be expected to take a basic skills test, involving English, maths and computing, within six weeks in order to qualify.

Census Shows 138,000 People Speak No English
Figures from the 2011 census have revealed that 138,000 people living in England and Wales could not speak any English. The 2011 census was the first to ask how well the population could speak English when it was not a person's main language. After English, the second most reported main language was Polish, followed by Punjabi and Urdu.
