Missing Loch Lomond teen found dead
The body of missing 15-year-old Adam Shad, who had been missing since Tuesday, has been recovered from a river at Loch Lomond.
Adam's body was found in the River Falloch where it meets Loch Lomond a short time ago.
Police have said that there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Adam's relatives have been informed of the recovery.
Adam – who suffered brain damage after a car accident last December – was on holiday from Gateshead with members of his family at the time of his disappearance. He was last seen around 4.45pm on the opposite shore of Loch Lomond from Ardlui on Tuesday 5 August 2003.
The boy's step-father had left Adam at a stretch of the Loch about 40 to 50 yards from their caravan. The family were keeping a close watch over the teenager, but he suddenly disappeared from sight.
Chief Inspector Les Carson said: "Everyone involved in the search for Adam is extremely disappointed that it resulted in such tragedy. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
Strathclyde Police's search operation involved the Force's Underwater Unit, the Strathclyde Police helicopter and members of the Strathclyde Police Mountain Rescue Team, as well as Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team and Lomond Mountain Rescue Team.
