Defra Confirm Bird Flu Outbreak
Defra, the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, has confirmed a case of bird flu at a duck breeding farm in East Yorkshire.
A six mile exclusion zone has been put in place and some 6,000 ducks are to be culled in an effort to contain the outbreak.
Defra said that while the exact strain has not yet been confirmed they do know it is not the H5N1 strain, which is deadly to humans. The department said the risk to humans is "very low".
