100 New Jobs To Be Created By Turbine Company
A new turbine assembly plant in Wales is to create 100 new jobs.
Tidal Lagoon Power, which will manufacture turbines for the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon project, has not yet decided on a site for its plant, but is understood to be considering three in south-west Wales.
The company hopes to ship one turbine per month when first established, and to scale up the operation by 2018 to ship one per week.

Unite the union is urging the government to work with management at Vestas to save England's only wind turbine manufacturing plants at the Isle of Wight and Southampton which are to close on Friday 24 July, with the loss of 625 jobs and the transfer of production to China and the US.

A 56ft wind turbine blade has been used by anti-fracking protesters to block access to a shale gas test drilling site. The turbine blade was placed outside the Barton Moss site in Salford at around 05:30, in what has been described as a "symbolic action".

Turbine Firm's Bid To End Sit-In Fails
Owners of the wind turbine company Vestas have failed in a bid to remove 25 workers staging a sit-in in protest at its Isle of Wight factory. The staff have been occupying the Newport offices since 20 July, as part of a campaign to prevent the plant from closing down and 625 jobs being lost.

A total of 70 news jobs are to be created in South Wales by packaging firm, Seda. The company, which manufactures a range of packaging for the food industry, is also safeguarding another 170 jobs at its Blackwood plant.
