Motorist Jailed After Driving With A Man Clinging To Car Bonnet
A motorist has been jailed for 14 months after driving through Camberley with a man clinging to the bonnet of his car.
Grzegorz Musial, 28, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court having previously pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
The incident happened at 10.30am on 14 October last year when Musial reversed his car out of a parking space near to Screwfix in Camberley and clipped the wing mirror of a vehicle next to his.
The victim approached Musial and details were exchanged, but Musial then admitted to having no insurance and said he would pay for the damage in cash. The victim was unhappy about the admission and said he would call the police.
Musial got back into his Ford Focus estate and tried to drive off but hit the victim as he was stood in front of his car whilst phoning police. He then landed on the bonnet and clung on to the windscreen wipers.
Musial did not stop and drove left out of Lawrence Way, onto Stanhope Way and then onto the A331 towards the M3. Witnesses reported seeing Musial braking hard and weaving from side to side in an attempt to throw the victim off.
He continued along the A331 towards Sainsbury's going through a red light. It was at this point that the victim fell off into the busy carriageway and Musial drove off.
He suffered serious ankle injuries, a broken nose and numerous cuts and bruises.
