60 Children Evacuated After Chemical Spill
Sixty children and two adults were evacuated from a school on Peaks Hill in Purley as a precautionary measure following reports of a chemical leak in South London on Thursday.
London Fire Brigade said that the leak was found to have occurred in a small storage unit.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus ventilated the building and used specialist equipment to carry out a sweep of the area for elevated levels of potentially-hazardous chemicals.
After a thorough investigation the area was made safe.
Three fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers from Brixton and Croydon fire stations attended the incident.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Second Suspected Chemical Leak At Colchester Council Building
A council building has been evacuated for the second time in 10 days following a suspected chemical leak. Essex fire crews were called back to the county council's Essex House building in The Crescent, Colchester, after around 12 people were taken ill. Crews are giving first aid to those affected.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.
