Man arrested over father and daughter double murder
A man has been arrested in connection with the murders of a seven-year-old girl and her father in London on Sunday morning.
The 23-year-old man was arrested last night and is being detained at a police station in north London.
Seven-year-old Toni-Ann Byfield and her father Bertam (41) were shot during an apparent gangland shooting at a flat on Harrow Road, in Kensal Green, north-west London, at around 12.30am on Sunday morning.
Police believe that the girl was killed to prevent her making an identification of the gunman. She had been shot once in the back as she fled her father's killer. The girl's father suffered a number of gunshot wounds.
Police and ambulance teams were on the scene a short time later and both victims were taken to hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
The police officer leading the investigation has described the shooting as a "most evil and despicable crime".
Detectives have urged anyone with information to come forward.
