Young girl and father murdered in London shooting
A seven-year-old girl and her father have been shot dead following an incident in north-west London in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Police believe that during the shooting, which occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday morning, Toni-Ann Byfield was shot once in the back as she fled her father's killer. The girl's father, Bertram (41), suffered a number of gunshot wounds.
Police and ambulance teams were on the scene at Harrow Road, in Kensal Green, a short time later and both victims were taken to hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
Police also believe that the girl was killed to prevent her making an identification of the gunman.
The police officer leading the investigation has described the shooting as a "most evil and despicable crime".
Detectives have urged anyone with information to come forward.
