Joint British And French Command Centre To Be Set Up In Calais
A joint British and French command centre is to be established in Calais in an effort to tackle the ongoing migrant crisis.
A senior British and French police officer will lead the centre, with each reporting to their own government.
It is understood that a number of British officers will be posted to the centre in Calais, but it is not yet known how many officers will be sent.
The Home Secretary, Theresa May, has begun a visit to Calais where she will tour the Eurotunnel site in Coquelles, with French Interior Minister Bernard Cazenueve to inspect security measures.

The government has rejected calls for it to send British police to Calais, saying that security on French soil was "a matter for the French". It comes after the French interior minister suggested that British police could be "useful" in helping French authorities tackle Calais' "tremendous problem" with illegal immigration.

News that ferry operator P&O has cancelled all Dover to Calais crossings due to a blockade by French fishing boats has increased pressure on other cross channel traffic. The blockade at the port of Calais is now said to be causing motorway disruption in Kent, police have said.

Single Gun Used In French Alps Murders
In the ongoing investigation into the killing of four members of a British family while on holiday in the French Alps, and a local cyclist, French police have said just one gun was used. Officials told reporters in Annecy that ballistics tests found 25 spent cartridges left at the scene, which came from a 7.65mm calibre semi-automatic pistol.
