Father charged with baby's murder
The father of a 10-month-old baby that was stabbed and killed in a bakery in Carlisle on Tuesday has been charged with murder.
Thirty-nine-year-old Shahajan Mondol Kabir will appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court today to face charges of murder and with causing grievous bodily harm to the child's mother and grandmother.
Baby Hassan Martin and his 20-year-old mother, Lorna, were in a bakery in Scotch Street, Carlisle, at around 11.30am on Tuesday when the attack took place.
The child suffered a slash wound to his neck and the mother received a stab wound to her wrist.

The mother of a child found abandoned in the toilets of an amusement arcade in Southport, has been arrested. The newborn baby was found by staff at Silcock's Amusements in Merseyside, last Thursday. The child is being cared for by staff at Ormskirk Hospital, Lancashire later, who have named her April.

Missing Baby Found 'Safe And Well'
A nine-month-old baby girl who was reported missing from her home in Glouchestershire on Monday has been found safe and well. Maylayah Delaney had been reported missing by her mother shortly before lunch-time on Monday. Police have confirmed that a man from the West Midlands is helping them with their inquiries.

Man Arrested For House Death In Carlisle
A man found dead at his home in Stonegarth, Carlisle is Karl Celmins, police have confirmed. He was discovered by a member of the public on 26 April around 7.30pm. Results from a post mortem show that Mr Celmins, 46, suffered "pressure to his neck".

A British man whose wife and baby daughter were found murdered in the US is believed to be in the UK. US detectives have confirmed that Neil Entwistle, 27, is outside the US and that while they have spoken with him, they have declined to reveal any further details.

Mother Cleared Of Toddler Murder
The mother of a toddler, who died from a number of injuries including a broken back, has been cleared of murder. The 27-year-old woman was accused of killing the 18-month-old baby boy who suffered a catalogue of injuries and died in August 2007. She denied the charge of murder, but admitted allowing the death of a child.
