Coastguard call off search for missing fisherman
The Coastguard have called off the search for a fisherman who had been missing following the sinking of a fishing vessel off the Cornish coast on Saturday evening.
Falmouth Coastguard ended the search yesterday at 1pm, having conducted a nine-hour operation, covering 400 square miles of sea.
Two crew members were rescued on Sunday morning after their life raft was located but there was no sign of the third man, Mark Jose.
The surviving crew told the coastguard rescue team that the missing man had probably been in the water since between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday, when the 'Sabre' capsized in high winds and treacherous seas.
Following the location of the life raft, the search area was focused on a 100-mile area of sea and was further defined after debris, believed to be from 'Sabre' was located at 11.40am.
At the height of the search there were two lifeboats, a Coastguard Tug, fishing vessels, a number of merchant vessels and a rescue helicopter involved.
