Three charged over Morecambe Bay deaths
Three people have today been charged in connection with the Morecambe Bay tragedy that claimed the lives of 21 Chinese cocklers.
Lin Liang Ren (27), of Lemmon Street, Liverpool, has been charged with manslaughter, conspiracy to commit facilitation, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Zhao Qing Xiao (known as Eva) (19), of Lemmon Street, Liverpool, has been charged with conspiracy to commit facilitation, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Lin Mu Yong (29), of Crete Towers, Liverpool, has been charged with conspiracy to commit facilitation.
All three were arrested by police earlier in the year and released on bail for further enquiries. They were re-arrested on Tuesday in the Liverpool area and questioned at police stations in Lancashire.
They will all appear before magistrates in Lancaster today.
Detective Superintendent Mick Gradwell, the man leading the enquiry, said: "This does not signal the end of the investigation as a number of other people remain on police bail. Our enquiries into exactly what happened on the night of Thursday, 5 February and events leading up to this terrible tragedy are still very much the focus of a detailed criminal investigation."
