Two charged in connection with Morecombe Bay deaths
Two more people have been charged in relation to the Morecambe Bay tragedy that claimed the lives of 21 Chinese cocklers in February.
David Eden, 61, of Thingwall Road, Wirral, Merseyside, and his son David, 33, of Woodchurch Road, Prenton, Wirral, who run the Liverpool Bay Fishing Company, have been charged with breaches of immigration and labour law.
Twenty-one people are known to have died after a group of 30 cockle pickers were trapped by rising tides on February 5. It is thought, however, that there may have been two other victims whose bodies have not yet been recovered. Morecambe Bay is notorious among locals for its perilous rip tide.
Three people were charged on July 1 in relation to the incident.
Lin Liang Ren, 27, of Lemmon Street, Liverpool, was charged with manslaughter, conspiracy to commit facilitation, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Zhao Qing Xiao (known as Eva), 19, of Lemmon Street, Liverpool, was charged with conspiracy to commit facilitation, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Lin Mu Yong, 29, of Crete Towers, Liverpool, was charged with conspiracy to commit facilitation.
All three were arrested by police earlier in the year and released on bail for further enquiries. They were re-arrested on June 29 in the Liverpool area and questioned at police stations in Lancashire.
